Each year we organize a series of trainings and workshops for our community in order to better prepare them for the competitions to come. We provide the resources, know-how and expertise, while our community provides the entrepreneurial spirit and innovative ideas.

What we did

The mindset of a

health entrepreneur

Psiholog Daniela Dumulescu PhD

Together with Psychologist Dr. Daniela Dumulescu, university teacher, psychological counselor, trainer and entrepreneur with extensive experience in training and career guidance, we aimed to identify the emotional blockages that make students reluctant when it comes to starting a business. Dr. Dumulescu provided the participants recommendations, instructions and concrete examples (from the field of medical entrepreneurship) to succeed.

Amongst the topics and curiosities we tackled, we would mention: THE WHY behind becoming an entrepreneur, when putting so much effort and making countless sacrifices to become a doctor.

The skills a student from the healthcare field must acquire during the years of study, if he/she considers an entrepreneurial career, and the courses/events should he/she attend to strengthen their knowledge and entrepreneurial motivation.

How do we manage failure and frustration, related to transition, leaving a job in the medical field and starting projects on your own.

Advanced research methods

Prof. Dr. Ioana

Berindan-Neagoe

This workshop had two complementary components: a first introductory course on translational research methodology, focusing on the activity of the Center for Functional Genomics, Biomedicine and Translational Medicine within the University of Medicine and Pharmacy "Iuliu Hațieganu" Cluj-Napoca. With a vast experience in the field of oncological research attracted many participants, Prof. Dr. Ioana Berindan-Neagoe prepared a very explicit presentation, with many examples that outlined her advice on how to approach quality research with remarkable results from a scientometric point of view - the first step towards technology transfer and monetization (using scientific results as a starting point for a business in the health area).

During the second course, Prof. Dr. Ioana Berindan-Neagoe wanted to change the classic structure of an online presentation and offer participants a more truthful experience on the activities that take place daily in a research center (focusing on the Genomics Center - UMF Cluj-Napoca). She gave us a real-time tour of all laboratories, explaining each technique, the role of each device, how to work and capitalize on the results. Regarding the practical part, Prof. Dr. Ioana Neagoe had previously prepared with several researchers from the center's team several videos that captured the execution of techniques or the presentation of facilities, such as: COVID-19 Testing Center, Biobanking, Cultures Cellular, Scratch Assay, Pathological Anatomy (IHC), Advanced Microscopy, Biological Sample Processing, Polytronal Biological Sample and Next Generation Sequencing.

ASAIH Success Stories

The winners of the last editions of the business ideas contest organized by ASAIH - Zaki Milhem (WakeZ), Alexandra Ureche (Xcite), Ana Lariu (Mission Admission), Florina Truță (Tody), Victor Dinică (Cneo) – accepted our invitation as speakers and shared with us the story behind their business, the development stage they have reached, the difficulties and successes of their journey, but also how important was the support provided by ASAIH in terms of the success of their business idea.

Each speaker prepared a presentation about their business (concept, applicability, financing, prizes won, collaborations, etc.) and highlighted their journey in an honest way, offering participants a relevant perspective. The speakers offered participants an example of how should a motivated student with an innovative idea act, when transforming an idea into a business. They encouraged us to be bold, ambitious, to put our ideas on paper and explore this field now, because we have what it takes.
